Description
The Quarter ounce gold Sovereign coin is official legal tender of Saint Helena. The reverse of the coin features the beautiful shield with heraldic elements of England, Ireland, and Scotland. The Royal Arms of England features three lions to represent the three areas England, Normandy, and Aquitaine. The lion represents bravery and valor. Ireland is represented by the royal coat of arms the stringed Argent, a gold harp with silver strings. Scotland coat of arms dates back to the 12th century. The lion often described as “the ruddy lion ramping in his field of treasured gold.” The spade-shaped shield is placed on a bed of Tudor roses.
