The Obverse of each 2021 1 oz British Platinum Britannia coin depicts an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, introduced in 2015 with a face value of 100 pounds and features an intricate background design.
The reverse of each coin features the effigy of the national female personification Britannia standing firm against a powerful gale. When Emperor Hadrian issued Roman Empire coins with an effigy of Britannia, Britannia first appeared on coins issued in Britain during the period of Roman rule. Since Roman times, it has been used to represent Britain’s strength and dignity on coins. The weight, fineness, and year of minting are also located on the reverse of each coin.
